Baselworld 2019: Interview with Chopard Co-President Karl-Friedrich Scheufele

BASELWORLD 2019

The Mille Miglia belongs to Chopard and Chopard simply belongs to the Mille Miglia. The Swiss watch brand has been the official timekeeper of the prestigious race since 1988 and it therefore doesn’t come as a surprise that there is a new Mille Miglia 2019 Race Edition Chronograph this year, paying its tribute to the race. The next new watch by Chopard couldn’t be more different: The Chopard LUC XP features an inhouse caliber with a micro rotor, making it a predestined dress watch. It’s inspired by the infamous Savile Row in London, Europe’s best address for finest bespoke suits. Another novelty is the sporty-masculine Chrono One Flyback Chronograph.

However, Chopard’s biggest highlight at this year’s Baselworld is arguably the Chopard L.U.C Flying T Twin. The watch, limited to 50 pieces, houses a flying tourbillon that is securely housed in an ethically and fair-traded rose gold case. The technically sophisticated complication, together with the guilloché dial, make this watch a sophisticated timepiece for connoisseurs and enthusiasts.

We talk to Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, who successfully manages the company as Co-president.
