Born in the Caribbean – Restrepo’s Octopus Chronograph

Imagine yourself onboard Jules Verne’s famous Nautilus submarine – suddenly, your gaze fixes on an impressive octopus through the porthole. Like something out of Verne’s famous adventure novel, and full of playful creativity: Restrepo’s new Octopus Chronograph stirs the imagination. The creator, Federico Restrepo, intentionally breaks traditional rules. Let’s take a closer look at the latest release by the Colombian-born designer, who has a rich and varied history as a consultant, designer or art director by major brands in fields such as fashion, cosmetics and spirits.

Ode to the Sea

The turquoise model is inspired by Restrepo’s birthplace in the Caribbean and the Pacific Ocean, the blue inspired by his enthusiasm for sailing and diving in the Atlantic. Rich in details and made of high-quality materials, this is an exceptional work of art for the wrist: stainless steel case, transparent case back, enamel dial, silk-screen printed decorations. Hands and numerals are made of “Hard Swiss Luminova Blue” and the strap is made of vulcanised rubber, available in various colours (black and white are included), for example radiant turquoise – our favourite. The chronograph is equipped with an automatic movement and 50 hours of power reserve, the crowns are positioned at 12 o’clock and the model offers a water resistance of 50 metres.

With a Touch of Humour

Federico Restrepo has thus created a collection that, with its two models, comes across strikingly, featuring the trademark Restrepo elliptical shape, but also offering a glimpse of the designer’s life’s work, or at least an intriguing look at the life story behind the designer – a legacy of his origins and culture and mixed with, as he himself says, a good pinch of humour.
