Ebel – The architects of time

Just over a hundred years ago, a Swiss couple decided to make their dream come true. In 1911, Eugène Blum and Alice Lévy thus officially registered their own brand called Ebel (Eugène Blum et Alice Lévy).

Eugène Blum, the watchmaker and technical authority behind the brand, perfectly complemented his wife, who was in charge of the design of the watches thanks to her keen sense of form. In the following year, notably at a time when pocket watches were even more popular, Ebel already launched its first wristwatch.

In 1929, their son, Charles-Eugène Blum, joined the ranks of the company. From then on, he actively helped to give the company a worldwide reputation through continuous further development. The quality of their watches wasn’t a well-kept secret for long and word of Ebel’s value proposition began to spread quickly. It came about that the brand provided watches for the Royal Air Force of the British Armed Forces during the Second World War. This was not only a high honour, but also helped the still young watch manufacturer to make a name for itself on the world stage.

In 1970, the grandson of the founding couple, Pierre-Alain Blum, joined and successfully led the brand to an unprecedented size. An expanding distribution network and a collaboration with Cartier boosted Ebels’ sales tremendously. The brand had finally arrived at the Olympus of watchmaking.

Today, the brand is known for its wide range of women’s watches, which fit perfectly, especially thanks to their feminine design, on more delicate wrists. Speaking of design: In 1986, the 75th birthday was also taken as an opportunity to acquire the famous Villa Turque, which still serves as the brand’s headquarters up to this day. According to Ebel, this estate serves as an insatiable reminder of the core values and an inexhaustible source of inspiration for the brand, as some watch collections are said to have been inspired by the company’s Villa.

Brasilia

In the Brasilia collection, the geometric dial is set in a softly contoured case to which the elegantly curved links of the bracelet are attached. All in all, a refreshingly modern way to redefine elegance that is particularly well received by women.

Classic

The watches in the Classic collection are undoubtedly among the absolute top sellers of the brand. Particularly striking is the wave-shaped bracelet, which not only sets the watch apart visually, but also makes it incredibly comfortable to wear. Furthermore, Classic watches are water-resistant up to 100m, turning them into great everyday watches.

E-Type

Ebel’s E-Type watches are true watch classics in a sporty look. This can be seen, among other things, in the eightfold screwed case back, the scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and the hard-wearing rubber strap. The 100m water resistance tips it all off and makes them perfect everyday watches.

Wave

The new edition in particular embodies the flowing contours and uncompromising wearing comfort of this iconic Wave collection. The slim profile, the wave bracelet and contemporary case sizes make the watches beautifully hug the wrist of the wearer.
