Crowdfunding platforms have taken on a very special significance over the years, especially for the watch industry. Whereas in the past considerable equity capital was required, today there is an almost endless community of watch enthusiasts from all over the world. The best thing about it: If they like what they are seeing, they are willing to support the project financially before the official start of production has even begun.
This is exactly what Thierry Clottu succeeded in doing, when he completed an impressive Kickstarter campaign in July 2016. Equipped with sufficient funds, he set out to create his very own dream watch.
DONE Watches: Young and independent
Clottu began as early as 2015, namely when he made his very first pencil strokes for his new project. As an experienced microtechnology engineer and after more than 10 years of experience in the product development of many well-known brands, he decided to finally dedicate himself to his own long-cherished dream of an own watch brand.
The name “DONE Watches” has a double meaning, by the way: On the one hand, it represents Clottu’s personal challenge to have created a successful watch brand all on his own – to have done it. On the other hand, the name alludes to the birth region of the brand, which is located right in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. You could say: Done in Neuchâtel.
Three collections, all Swiss Made
Clottu has already successfully established three watch collections, which are called Classic (l.), Skeleton (m.) and Automatic (r.). It all started, back in 2016, with the “MECHANICA ME1A” from the Classic series, a sporty-elegant everyday watch with a small second at 9 o’clock and a beautifully decorated manual winding caliber.
The Automatic three-handers, on the other hand, are considerably more timeless, with only a classic date window at 3 o’clock and available in 40mm (intended for men) and 36mm (intended for women) in diameter. For those who prefer something a little more extravagant on the wrist, Clottu has developed the nifty Skeleton models, boasting an open-worked and DLC-coated caliber.

Looks great (compared to most of the other Kickstarter scrap metal). This, however, is a brand I could totally see myself wearing. 😊
Great vid as well!
For me it’s the skeletonized watched that spark my interest the most. While I feel like the other ones are nice, but nothing special, the skeleton one really punches above its weight (especially given its price point). Thumbs up

Thanks for the video Montredo, good to see you’re giving younger brands a platform as well.
A bit vanilly the design, if I may be so blatant, but price/quality ratio seems more than fair.
Stylish watches for a great price, what’s not to love?
