Eberhard & Co. adds another dial color to its oldest collection: Extra Fort Automatic Navy Blue

First launched in the 1940s, the Extra-fort is considered one of the most sought-after collections within Eberhard & Co’s ranks. Ever since its introduction, it has been at the forefront of the Swiss watchmaker’s creations, which is why it still greatly contributes to the brand’s high recognition value to this day.

In addition to brown, black, gray and white, Eberhard & Co. has now expanded the collection with another dial color that has been an integral part of the watch industry for years now: navy blue.

Eberhard & Co. Extra-fort Automatic Navy blue

This three-hand watch – just like its predecessors – definitely belongs to the “dress watch” category due to its elegant dauphine hands, Roman numerals as well as its flat case design. The noble alligator leather strap (or fine-link stainless steel bracelet) again adds to this impression.

By the way, navy blue is also the official color of the brand.

The new, navy blue dial makes use of two finissage techniques at once: “frappée” for the center of the dial and “azurée” for the outer area around the rhodium-plated numerals. The minute scale, however, is in white for better readability.

Proven mechanics for precision and endurance

Under the hood of the 40mm stainless steel case, you will find the robust automatic caliber SW200 from Sellita, which delivers a solid performance. It is in terms of both reliability and accuracy in no way inferior to its functional role model, the ETA 2824-2, and just runs and runs and runs. When fully wound, the movement has a power reserve of around 38 hours.

  1. It’s a nice looking watch but I find it a bit pricey to be honest, considering its ETA movement. Also it’d love to see a exhibition case back with it.
