Omega De Ville – Classic understatement par excellence

The De Ville collection undoubtedly represents the elegant and timeless side of Omega. Introduced in the 1960s, little has ever changed about this reputation. Model series such as Hour Vision, Ladymatic, Prestige, Trésor or De Ville Co-Axial make this collection incredibly diverse. Omega also offers a variety of designs:

Whether leather, gold or stainless steel bracelets that give the watch a secure hold on the wrist, Omega attaches great importance to versatility in the De Ville collection. The dial colours are also extremely diverse and range from all-time classics such as black and white, silver and blue to more exotic variations such as light blue, pink and violet. The bezels also vary from classically polished to diamond-encrusted eye-catchers. This design variety in combination with 100m water resistance and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal make these watches versatile everyday watches with a classic appearance.

It was also a watch from the De Ville collection that was first equipped with the now legendary Co-Axial escapement in 1999, which soon turned out to be a stroke of genius, as it was to help Omega achieve enormous growth in the following years. It is also thanks to George Daniel’s invention that the head-to-head race with Rolex could continue, as it helped Omega gain almost unprecedented popularity.

De Ville in numbers – Top 3 Facts

2500:

An ingenious move: In 1999, Omega installed the Co-Axial escapement in a watch from the De Ville collection for the first time with the 2500 calibre and promptly extended the warranty by a third year. The legacy of George Daniels has changed Omega to this day.

1967:

Although Omega introduced the name “De Ville” as early as 1960, the models still belonged to the Seamaster family at that time. Three years later, in 1963, the “Seamaster De Ville” logo was firstly displayed on a dial of the brand, but it took four more years for Omega to create an independent collection.

50:

50 years Omega De Ville: In 2017, Omega celebrated the 50th anniversary of its collection. To mark the occasion, the company launched three “50th Anniversary” prestige models in different gold variations. They feature a white enamel dial, a striking red 12 o’clock index and the typical “railway minute scale”, which is reminiscent of their historical ancestors.
