Inside this watch ticks the El Primero movement, one of the most legendary chronograph calibres in the history of watchmaking. First introduced in 1969, the Zenith El Primero movement is still notably faster paced than its counterparts.
It oscillates with a frequency of 36,600 half-oscillations per hour, allowing the chronograph second hand moves with increments of a tenth of a second, instead of the usual 5 or 8 increments per second. You can literally see the fast-paced oscillation through the smooth motion of the chronograph second and through the dial cut-out that shows the escapement. Not to mention, the star on the backside of the chronograph second hand is a nice detail that adds to the charm of this classic chronograph.
