MeisterSinger collaborates with the World Wild Fund for Nature (WWF) for a limited edition 43mm stainless steel moon phase with sustainability at its heart.
Having previously selected German watchmaker MeisterSinger’s Lunascope as one of our favourite moonphase watches, we were thrilled to hear news of their latest lunar release, the MeisterSinger Edition Best Friends, created in collaboration with leading nature conservation organisation the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
Based on the hugely successful Stratoscope series, the Edition Best Friends features both a photorealistic moon which gently phases across the top half of the dial, and a photorealistic representation of the earth on the bottom half. The beauty of our space-bound home and its natural satellite contrasted against a deep black dial.
The 43mm stainless steel Edition Best Friends delivers the impeccable legibility and crystal clear design language that makes it instantly recognisable as a MeisterSinger – the large white needle hand marking off the time in 5-minute segments, a subtle black-on-black date aperture at 3 o’clock, and of course the luminescent Moon at 12 and the Earth at 6. As with all MeisterSinger watches, the white printed 144 segment track that skirts the edge of the dial denotes the passing of time in 5 minute units, the slightly larger markers show the quarter and half hour, and long markers capped with double digits display the hours.
Protecting this handsome dial from the elements is a domed sapphire crystal, and providing a glimpse of the modified Swiss Made Sellita SW220 movement is a sapphire display back embellished with the WWF logo.
Like the Stratoscope, the Edition Best Friends is equipped with MeisterSinger’s MS Luna calibre, a special modification of the SW220 created for MeisterSinger’s single-hand watches, and equipped with a piggy-back moon phase module developed in-house by the brand, that at full wind provides 38 hours of power.
Limited to just 250 pieces worldwide, the Edition Best Friends is a watch with the interests of the planet at its heart. With a €250 donation from the sale of each watch being made to the WWF, and sustainable design elements including a high-quality vegan leather effect strap and packaging made from a combination of FSC certified and recycled materials.
