New high-end dive watches from Glashütte Original: SeaQ Panorama Date Gold

Glashütte Original presents two new diving watches within the Spezialist collection that are reminiscent of a much older model.

It all began with the Spezimatic RP TS 200

A diving watch called “Spezimatic Type RP TS 200” already made its debut in Glashütte as early as in 1969. It was designed to meet the high demands of sport and combat divers and in a certain way paved the way for Glashütte’s diver watch production.

Exactly 50 years later, in 2019, Glashütte Original revived this Spezimatic watch with a new edition. The new SeaQ models are true high-end divers’ watches that are available in either a normal 39.50mm version or a 43.20mm version with panorama date.

Speaking of which, the panorama date is not only a flowery term for an ordinary date aperture. Unlike most other movements, the date complication of many Glashütte Original watches consists of two concentrically arranged date discs, not one. When changing from (for example) the 24th to the 25th of a month, only the outer date disc jumps, the 2 stays put.

SeaQ goes for gold

With two new references, gold is now also moving into the still relatively young Spezialist collection, although for the time being only for the slightly larger models with panorama date.

The models are available on either rubber or synthetic straps. Buyers can also choose between a bicolor version, in which some elements such as the crown or bezel are gold, and a solid gold watch. The difference in the materials is of course also reflected in the price: While the bicolor watch starts at €14,500, its golden brother already sets you back a hefty €24,500.
