Even for Sinn fans with stronger wrists, the U1 dive watches with their 44mm diameter and 14.3mm height were, to say the least, fairly dominant on the wrist. What is just right for professional divers in a wetsuit, however, might in fact be a bit too bulky for the Average desk diving Joe in the office.
Good news is: Sinn has listened to the wishes of the watch community and shrunk a classic.
Even if the second part of the company’s name (Sinn Spezialuhren, meaning special watches) is usually neglected in everyday chit-chat, it’s safe to say that Sinn watches live up to their name.
The same applies of course to the newly introduced Sinn U50, which is the successor to the classic U1 dive watch mentioned above. Like their predecessor, the U50 models are full to the brim with Sinn’s proprietary technologies.
The name “U50” already indicates it, at least for die-hard Sinn fans: The case is made of German submarine steel is therefore extremely corrosion-resistant. For an additional 250€, you also get to enjoy an extreme scratch-resistance thanks to Sinn’s patented Tegiment technology.
Besides the 500m water resistance, the captive safety bezel is another useful gimmick for every scuba diver out there and those of you who take the term “daily beater” literally. Fortunately, the Sellita SW200-1 of the U1 has been replaced by the 1mm flatter SW300-1.
