Compared to the Panerai Luminor, the Radiomir has always been the more subtle watch design. Of course, this is primarily due to the lack of Luminor’s signature crown protection, but also the thin lugs make this the dressier choice among the two. Not only the typical Radiomir design, but also the mechanics of this watch give reasons to be excited: The manually-wound P.5000 in-house caliber has two barrels that generate a power reserve of 8 days.
Originally, the Radiomir was named after the luminous material Radium that was used to make the watch visible underwater. Radium has long been replaced by Super-LumiNova, but the perfectly visible luminescent hour markers remain one of the model’s key design traits. This Panerai Radiomir Black Seal really captures the essence of Panerai’s heritage.
