Baselworld 2019: Interview with Hublot CEO Ricardo Guadalupe

“Be the first, be unique, be different.”

Since day one, this creed has been a main pillar of Hublot’s success. In particular the art of fusion, as Hublot calls it, is a crucial element, referring to: Venerable watchmaking know-how, complemented by groundbreaking technologies and all this while using highly innovative materials.

This year, Hublot is presenting a new collection in collaboration with the high-end Italian sports car manufacturer Ferrari under the leadership of Flavio Manzoni. This collaboration has already been going on since 2011 and brought forward daring new luxury watches ever since. Hublot has, however, once again stepped up its game at this year’s Baselworld:

With the launch of the Classic Fusion Ferrari GT, the luxury watch brand now features a new groundbreaking Flyback column wheel chronograph in its ranks, which is fueled by the new in-house caliber UNICO HUB 1280. Despite its 45mm diameter, the case sits elegantly on the wrist, making it much lighter than one might expect. The watch is available in Hublot’s special King Gold (a unique copper-gold alloy), 3D carbon fiber or titanium.

In our interview at Baselworld 2019, we talk to Hublot CEO Ricardo Guadalupe about what made the Hublot brand so successful and the influence of motor racing.
