Eberhard & Co. – A Swiss Watchmaking Legend Since 1887

Some brands create excellence; Eberhard & Co. embodies it through the lens of history. A tradition of superior watchmaking that has endured for more than 135 years. Eberhard & Co. belongs to the second category – and has done so for over 135 years. Founded in 1887 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, the legendary heart of the Swiss watch industry, by the then 22-year-old Georges-Lucien Eberhard, the Maison Suisse d’Horlogerie Eberhard & Co. has grown into one of the most prestigious independent watch manufactures in the world. It achieved this without the backing of a conglomerate, without investors – through expertise alone, and a passion for precision that lives on to this day.

What has distinguished Eberhard & Co. from the very beginning is an unwavering commitment to innovation. As early as 1894, the manufacture filed a patent for a novel time-setting mechanism. In 1919 it presented one of the world’s first wristwatch chronographs – a pioneering achievement that permanently changed the watch industry. The double-pusher chronograph followed in 1935, the first model with with hours counter in 1938, and a rattrapante chronograph in 1939. Eberhard & Co. was not merely present – it was leading the way.

La Maison de l'Aigle – the Eagle House – on Avenue Léopold‑Robert in La Chaux‑de‑Fonds, with its imposing façade and majestic eagle emblem, stands as a symbol of permanence, pride and the Maison’s enduring pursuit of excellence. In 2019, Eberhard & Co. opened its own museum within this historic building – a treasury of watchmaking art that takes visitors on a journey through almost 140 years of innovation.
