Contodat Collection: A True "Act of Loyalty" to Mechanical Watchmaking

Sometimes the path through the past is what allows us truly to arrive in the present. The Contodat by Eberhard & Co. is the finest illustration of this principle. The collection takes inspiration from a timepiece from the second half of the 1970s, conceived by then President Palmiro Monti shortly after he took the helm of the Maison in 1969.

During a challenging period for traditional Swiss watchmaking, tested by the rise of quartz, the watch was a true act of courage: it responded to the quartz revolution by projecting the excellence of traditional watchmaking into the future with originality, a touch of lightness and colour. Almost half a century later, the same spirit of challenge gave birth to this new collection, carrying the same energy as the 1970s model.

The Contodat is the synthesis of retro charm and contemporary watchmaking technology, embodying the essence of the Swiss Maison's sporty elegance. The collection consists of the CONTODAT AUTOMATIC, the "time-only" version, and the CONTODAT CHRONOGRAPHE, the chronograph version. Both variants feature a 39 mm case and are offered with a curated selection of dials. They are the first watches in the Maison's current collections to be designed exclusively with an integrated bracelet. 

Particularly telling are the details for which Eberhard & Co. is renowned. The dials of both versions are presented in a vibrant colour range, illuminated by a "soleil" finish, while the counters are distinguished by an "azuré" finish. An attention-grabbing touch of orange colours the seconds hand and the "60" marker on the CONTODAT AUTOMATIC; on the CONTODAT CHRONOGRAPHE, the same vibrant colour is applied to the central chronograph hand and the 30-minute counter scale.

In both versions, the watch is offered exclusively with a new integrated steel bracelet, designed to ensure perfect aesthetic and functional continuity with the case. It features the exclusive 2CLICK® clasp, combining practicality with maximum security against accidental opening.

Though entirely new, the Contodat collection embraces a sporty character that still carries an unmistakable touch of classicism. It stands as a genuine act of loyalty to mechanical watchmaking: a tradition the brand has trusted since the very beginning and that continues to guide the Maison as it shapes its vision for the future.
